FAQ about Pharmacogenetics (PGx)
Have Questions? We’re Here to Help!
Depending on your genetic makeup, some medications may work more effectively, work less effectively or cause side effects for you. Our pharmacogenetic test detects genes that affect the way medications work within your body. Your genetic results are then combined with the best evidence to help you and your healthcare professional select the best medication and dosing for you.
Your TreatGxplus report is not intended to take the place of professional medical advice, so you should not change your medications solely based on your results. Sharing your report with your healthcare provider is crucial to make sure you receive the medications and treatments that will work best for you, according to your unique genetic profile. Your healthcare professional may use the information contained in your TreatGxplus report when considering medications for you. It’s important to note that PGx information should be considered in the context of other clinical variables including age, diet, organ function, other medications prescribed and allergies, and compliance in taking medications, as well as the type, stage, and severity of the specific disease being treated, and comorbidities.
Log into your account in our patient portal and select ‘Invite your clinician’ from the Navigation menu. In this page, you can enter the email of the healthcare provider you would like to invite to view your results or find a clinician in our database. Once you find the name of your healthcare provider, click ‘+ Add’, and an invitation will be sent.
GenXys testing has no incidental findings as the analysis is directed at the specific areas of the gene necessary to identify medication/gene interactions. Unlike other genetic tests, our test is designed strictly to inform your medication choices. Our test will not inform you or your physician of any disease-associated risk, for example cancer, vascular disease or Alzheimer’s.

Variations in your genes can affect how you respond to certain medications. GenXys includes medications in the pharmacogenetic report that have standardized, internationally recognized guidelines to provide recommendations for how to adjust, or avoid the medication based on a specific gene variation. Medications that do not have sufficient evidence for management based on pharmacogenetics may not be included in the report since they do not meet the evidence-based threshold for clinical actionability.
A list of the medications & genes included in the report can be found here.
